The beauty look backstage at Kate Spade’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection was inspired by a girl going for a brisk, yet adventurous, walk in the cold. Think about what happens when you return from a short walk on a winter’s day. Are your cheeks a bit flushed? Or is your hair wind-tousled? We were pleasantly surprised to see just how well the hair, makeup and nails aligned with the collection’s relaxed layers of rich woolen plaids, flannes and quilting in pretty hues.

To create effortless hair that’s a bit disturbed, we asked Bob Recine for Fekkai to share the best products.
- Start by applying and egg-sized dollap Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to the roots of the hair for easy volume, slick back, and rough blow dry from crown to tips.
- Next, section the hair and blow dry from bottom to top layer with a classic paddle brush to smooth the strands. Use instead of a round brush because a round brush will create volume as you pull away from the scalp.
- Use a fine comb to create a precise center part.
- Spray paddle brush with sheer hold hairspray and brush through.
- Apply a dollop of Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Creme, run fingers through hair for boost of shine. For more texture use hands to muster up for natural static.
For the nails, Deborah Lippmann created a custom polish for the show, saying: "To capture the essence of the scenic beauty, I layered two shades to create a deep warm red that's not too red and not too brown, but the perfect scintillating color that you just can't say no to, just like a red velvet cupcake."
Get the Look:
- Deborah contoured natural nails into short, rounded shape using her Smooth Operator 4 Way Nail Buffer.
- To prep the nail plate, she exfoliated the cuticle using her signature Cuticle Remover and then cleanse the nails with her 2-Second Nail Primer prior to the base coat application.
- For the base, Deborah applied 2 coats of All About That Base CC base coat to create a smooth, matte surface.
- Deborah applied 1 coat of Knock On Wood, a warm brown creme. Then she layered over top of it one coat of My Old Flame, a classic true red, waiting 2 minutes between each coat. Deborah emphasizes when you are working with cremes those textures tend to drag if you re-apply too soon ruining your manicure.
- After waiting 2 minutes to dry, one coat of Gel Lab Top Coat was applied to seal the nails and prevent chipping the new the wait is over quick drops were added as a finishing touch to ensure faster drying time and a flawless finish
- Hands and cuticles were massaged with Rich Girl SPF 25 Hand Cream and The Cure nourishing cuticle repair cream, respectively, for complete hydration
